Advanced Dental Technology & Comforts – Albuquerque, NM

Enhancing the Patient Experience

Too many people dread going to the dentist. That is why Dr. Monica Boehmer is always looking for ways to make people feel welcome in our Albuquerque dental office. The latest dental technology, along with patient comforts, let us deliver precise, compassionate care and create a positive experience for every one of our patients. Read on to learn about some of the remarkable tools we use to accomplish this goal.

Digital Dental X-Rays

Digital X-rays are an invaluable diagnostic tool that allow Dr. Boehmer to gain a comprehensive look at her patients’ oral health. Taking the X-rays is a quick process; the images immediately go to a nearby computer so you don’t have to wait for them to be developed. Even more importantly, digital X-rays enhance patient safety. They expose patients to so little radiation that they are safe even for small children.

3D Cone Beam Scanner

Digital X-rays produce a two-dimensional image of your oral structures, which usually provides Dr. Boehmer with enough information to provide you with excellent care. Sometimes, however, she needs even more detailed images of a patient’s mouth. Our 3D Cone Beam Scanner quickly takes a series of images of a patient’s teeth and jawbone and assembles them into a three-dimensional representation of your mouth. We often use this scanner on patients who are preparing for oral surgery.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a small handheld device that lets our team get a clear picture of what is going on inside your mouth. The camera sends its images to a nearby computer screen so we can easily evaluate the state of your teeth and gums. The camera is also a valuable educational tool; when you’re able to get a detailed view of what is happening inside your mouth, you’ll gain a greater understanding of your oral health.

BOTOX, Juvederm, Dermal BOTOX

Our priority is your oral health, but we also want you to feel amazing about what you see in the mirror. Dentists are uniquely qualified to administer BOTOX and Juvederm because they have such an intimate understanding of the orofacial structures. Whether you’re looking to smooth out those frown lines or fight crow’s feet, Dr. Boehmer can help you recapture your youthful glow.

Scaling & Root Planing

In many cases, a few adjustments to a patient’s oral hygiene routine are enough to prevent gum disease from causing serious damage. Sometimes, however, scaling and root planing — a deep cleaning of the mouth — is necessary. The procedure eliminates bacteria and plaque both above and below the gum line. Dr. Boehmer also smooths out the roots of the teeth so it is more difficult for bacteria to cling to them.

Antibiotic Therapy

Along with scaling and root planing, antibiotic therapy may be necessary to fight the bacteria that causes gum disease. After thoroughly evaluating your oral health, Dr. Boehmer can prescribe antibiotic treatment that gives your mouth an opportunity to heal so your smile can get back to feeling its best. Antibiotic therapy may also be used following root canal treatment or after tooth extractions in order to fight infections.

Invisalign

Do you want to achieve a straighter smile without enduring the discomfort and social stigma of traditional metal braces? Dr. Boehmer is proud to offer Invisalign, which uses clear plastic aligners to apply gentle pressure to teeth in order to reposition them over time. The aligners are even removable, which allows you to continue eating all of your favorite foods throughout your treatment period. Invisalign is ideal for many adults who are suffering from mild to moderate orthodontic problems.

Sedation Dentistry

Does visiting the dentist make you nervous? Dr. Boehmer understands that many people feel a little anxious when it is time to undergo dental treatment. That is why she offers two forms of sedation dentistry. Nitrous oxide sedation delivers an immediate calming sensation and is safe even for children. Oral conscious sedation is more powerful and may be used when you need to have a lengthy procedure performed.

Sleep Apnea/Snoring Treatment

Oral appliance

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a dangerous condition that causes patients to stop breathing for brief periods throughout the night. It makes it impossible for individuals to enjoy the rejuvenating rest they need, and it can lead to systemic health complications. Dr. Boehmer can help you reclaim your rest through sleep apnea/snoring treatment, which may involve a custom-made dental device that repositions the jaw in a way that allows for easier airflow.

TMJ Treatment

The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) are the joints that connect your lower jaw to the rest of your skull. When they’re placed under excess stress, you may find that your jaw aches and that you suffer from head pain, neck pain, and other symptoms. Dr. Boehmer has undergone advanced neuromuscular training, which makes her exceptionally qualified to provide TMJ treatment, adjustments to your bite, or a custom-made oral device may encourage muscle relaxation and provide relief from your pain.

T-Scan Novus

For patients experiencing pain and tension due to a misaligned bite, the T-Scan Novus gives us the ability to find exactly what is causing the problem. A patient simply bites down on a small mouthpiece, and this creates a reading that shows our team what order the teeth are touching, how hard they are touching, and more. This approach is much more accurate compared to the old ways, allowing us to deliver more comprehensive diagnoses that lead to personalized and precise treatments.
